Primary Teacher Training
Secondary Teacher Training
The OTT SCITT courses are carefully crafted to give you the best of in-school experience alongside theory, pedagogy and subject knowledge training at one of our training hubs. Our Associate Teachers (what we call our trainees) thrive on both our full-time and part-time courses and this is reflected in our exceptional post-training employment rates, as Headteachers recognise the high-quality training and preparation we offer.
At OTT SCITT almost all of our courses are available as a full-time or part-time option, and for all courses you have the option of QTS only (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTS and PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education). The summary below will help you to decide which option is best for you, but please contact us if you would like further advice. You are able to apply for more than one course/ route in your application, so you may want to choose both options when you apply and then decide when you accept an offer.
All of our SCITT courses are fee-funded courses, this means that you need to pay a fee to complete the course:*
Most applicants will be eligible to take out a student loan through Student Finance England to cover the tuition fees, maintenance loans are also available for most applicants and in some cases you may be eligible for further support grants from SFE, such as childcare grants if you are a parent. We would strongly advise that you check your eligibility and use the SFE calculator to estimate the loans/ grants available to you in advance of submitting your applications.
In some secondary subjects you may also be eligible for a bursary or scholarship. The funding is a tax-free training grant which you will receive if you meet the criteria and are training in an eligible subject, you can receive the bursary in addition to taking out a loan. Eligibility is dependent on the subject you are training to teach (not the subject of your degree), you must also hold an undergraduate degree of a 2:2, 2:1 or 1st, or have a Masters or PhD.
For courses starting in September 2024 the following bursaries are available:
If you would like to apply for a scholarship, you can receive a higher grant of:
