Training Hubs
Placement Schools
OTT SCITT operates multiple Training Hubs across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire, in order to provide you with a local base for your teacher training programme, with a network of schools, colleagues and peers from around that local area. It is important to us that your training is accessible and personalised and each Hub is led by a dedicated member of our Central Team, and supported by experts from across the region.
When you submit your ITT application through the DfE Apply service you are able to specify which training Hub location would be your preference. If you’re not sure where you will be living during your training, or if you are relocating and do not know which Hub to apply for yet, that is not a problem, as you can select the most likely Hub location and we can amend this at any stage during your application and enrolment with us.
Applying to a Hub means that lots of your in-person course sessions will be based in that chosen Hub location, and your placement schools will be within that region too. There will be a few sessions throughout the year which will require slightly further travel, but by operating the training sessions in multiple Hubs we hope that you will be able to train and develop professional networks in your local area!
Regardless of which Hub you choose, you will receive the same training sessions from expert teachers and practitioners, you will also have the same access to wellbeing and coaching support, as well as support and guidance throughout from the whole of our Central Team. Some of our Hubs are based in Primary schools and some are in secondary schools, but this has no impact on the courses that you can train in at those locations; every Hub is open to applicants in all subjects and phases.

Oxford City Hub: The Swan School, Marston Ferry Road, Oxford, OX2 7WP

Please see the map below for a guide of the areas our Hubs operate in, the marker shows the Hub location and the coloured circle is a guide to the general locations of our applicants and our placement schools. There may be some crossover in parts of the county and there also may be some placement schools on the fringes of these areas but it should give you an idea of where we based.
For all of our courses you will benefit from two exciting and contrasting school placements, with additional training sessions, visits and experiences in other schools, phases and settings. Placements are very carefully arranged to give the best possible experience for our Associate Teachers, we look carefully at a complex set of elements such as:
Our partnership of schools is constantly expanding, we are proud to work with a number of schools in Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Berkshire and the surrounding areas. Although you are not able to apply to an individual school, you will be able to indicate your area/schools of preference before your interview, so that we can start to plan possible placements for you.
Some of our applicants are already working or volunteering in a schools and in many cases it can be possible to arrange one of your placements to be in this school, whether we have worked with them before or not. But don’t worry if you are not already in a school, we have lots of schools who are really keen to work with us and take an Associate Teacher on a placement; we will arrange all of this for you.
If you would like to see which schools we have worked with in recent years please see the map below. This map doesn’t cover every possible placement, as the list of schools we work with is always growing, but it should give you a sense of the areas we operate in.
“On top of expert, specialist input from central trainers, trainees benefit from dependably high-quality mentoring. Contrasting placements of broadly equal lengths optimise the learning that comes from these valuable experiences. Through incredibly well joined-up input between centre and school, trainees gain confidence and skills in vital aspects such as behaviour and meeting pupils’ diverse needs.” Ofsted Inspection Report 2023

I cannot recommend the OTT SCITT highly enough, it really does provide the very best start to a successful career in teaching. The vast majority of the new teachers that we recruit have come through this route and it is impressive to see how inspired and well prepared they are.
